Veterans Writing Workshop

Veterans Writing Workshop

All veterans are welcome to this two-hour writing workshop where we’ll explore the art of turning life’s experiences into powerful works of literature. Veterans will draw inspiration from examples of poetry, fiction, and nonfiction to craft their own work, as well as develop strategies for writing on their own in the future. Come get inspired! (Some discussion and reading excerpts will relate to military experience, but participants are not required to write solely about their military service.)

Facilitator Micah Fields is a writer, teacher, and fly-fishing guide on the Missouri River. He is the author of We Hold Our Breath (W. W. Norton, 2023), and his work has been published in the Oxford American, County Highway, Field & Stream, and other outlets. He served as a Marine Corps infantry rifleman from 2007 to 2011 and is a combat veteran of deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. He lives in Helena, Montana.
